Purchased this little photo only printer to compensate the photo paper capability problem with new laser paper.
I also purchased 108 paper and ink set. It comes with initial printing paper set, but it's only 5 pictures which obviously not enough.
The setup and operation are pretty easy, just be careful don't touch the photo paper when putting in tray. The printer can operate 100% independently with or without computer, you even don't need driver on the host computer*.
This printer can accept camera connection (requires picbridge support).
The printout is dry and water proof, you don't have to wait because it's dry print (thermal print).
*The most interesting part is bluetooth printing. You don't need to purchase the bluetooth adapter from Canon, you just need a CSR-based bluetooth adapter (most of dirt cheap version 2.0 bluetooth adapters are CSR-based), the printer supports bluetooth OBEX file transfer, after you selected the picture, you just send it to the printer and it will print.
The only drawback is cost per picture, it's around 30 cents per print if you purchase 108 picture ink set.
If you want a dedicated 4R picture printer, this one is a good choice.

I received this printer as a Christmas gift. I had fallen in love with it after using my friend's Canon Selphy. I printed 3 photos and the print cassette malfunctioned and the paper jammed. I cleared the paper out of the jam, but the print cassette was stuck. I tried to remove it. I went on Canon's website for assistance. No luck. I emailed. I called. No response. I went on their website to find the nearest repair facility. According to their website, I'd have to pay for the cost of shipping and I need a receipt for proof of purchase. It was a gift and it's still under warranty! I don't have a receipt. I'm going to call my folks for the receipt... not for the repair service, but to return the printer for something else!

I bought this printer after a bad experience with a much more exspensive, huge, noisy, ink jet photo printer, scanner, fax, all in one thing. This tiny printer is actually portable, you could easily take it on a vacation and print your photo's every day, it would be a blast at a wedding or event. It's so simple to use - my non-techno husband can use it. The print quality is good (not great - but hey, it's for snapshots)the dye sublimation process is really cool - prints come out dry, just like WalMart and the price for the printer is fabulous - I paid $79. I think each print is about 33 cents, a little more exspensive than WalMart, but we live in the country and the nearest photo place is 20 miles away. The only downside - you can't do much in the way of photo enhancement in the printer itself - if you need to crop etc, you have to download into a computer, enhance and then print from your computer. But it's a really cool little printer for the casual photographer!!! Our whole family - even the grandkids love it!

I bought this printer as a gift for my sister and she was thrilled with it! I had looked up reviews in Consumer Reports and this was one of the highest rated ones and decided to order it from Amazon. It was easy to set up, the prints look great and it's speedy. Would definetely recommend it! Also love Amazons great service!

The printer prints great from the included card reader.
I found the prints from a computer to be too dark, i'll probably need to tweak the brightness control and be ok after that.
It does not read xD cards natively, so you will need to either connect the camera to the usb port of the printer or use an xD to Compact Flash Adapter if your camera uses xD cards.
The printer comes with a starter pack of 5 sheets andf enough ink for 5 pages.
Buy the packs of 108 prints at amazon and save. price per page is about twice as much as costco but the convenience it great.
What are we supposed to do with the film cassettes ? are they recyclable/ refillable ? If canon reads this, please tell us.
The screen is small and low resolution, making it difficult to decide if a print will be sharp. Compared to the screen on my camera (ricoh cx1) it's ridiculously worse.
What i care about it that it prints well. It does so i will give 4 stars.
